FIGHT on the Issues & FIGHT to Win
Fighting for a Safe & Fair Election
For the past couple of weeks, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, along with the Democratic National Committee, has been fighting in court to eliminate unnecessary barriers to participating in the fast-approaching April 7 election.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve emerged victorious.

Thanks to our suit, a number of critical changes have been made that will give voters more time to vote safely by mail:

  • The deadline to request an absentee ballot was extended to 5:00 PM today (4/3)
  • The deadline to return an absentee ballot was extended to 4/13 at 4:00 PM, with no requirement that ballots be postmarked by election
  • Voters who are unable to safely obtain a witness certification are allowed to submit a written statement that they are unable to do so, despite reasonable efforts

This ruling is a victory for voters, for public health, and for democracy itself. It remains appalling that Republican legislators refused to do their job and address this issue themselves, and other issues remain with this election. But because of this decision, thousands of Wisconsin voters who feared they would be silenced will now have a voice.

If you have questions on how to vote safely, you can still call our Voter Assistance Hotline at 608-336-3232.

DPW Cheddarbomb
This week DPW made a huge fundraising push that was supported by people from across the country including celebrities like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Andy Richter, Mark Ruffalo, and Rob Reiner. A donation of any amount goes extremely far right now, with our election just FOUR days away.

All eyes are on Wisconsin right now, which is why we need to work hard this week and next to elect Jill Karofsky to the Supreme Court.

National Convention Rescheduled

In the face of such an unprecedented health crisis, the Democratic National Convention will be moved back one month to the week of August 17 in order to ensure the health and safety of convention goers and the people of Milwaukee. The convention planning team is using the coming weeks to further explore all options to ensure nominating the next president of the United States is done without unnecessary risk to public health.
INCLUDE & RESPECT
Transgender Day of Visibility
This week we celebrated Transgender Day of Visibility which is a chance to celebrate transgender people in our community and acknowledge the discrimination that they still face. DPW recognizes the courage it takes to live openly and authentically, and we will continue to work hard to uplift and embrace the trans community here in Wisconsin.
Equal Pay Day
Tuesday was Equal Pay Day, which marks the 90 extra days it takes female workers, on average, to earn what a man does. For women of color and immigrant women, that amount of time is even longer.

President Donald Trump has spent his time in office trying to undermine equal pay laws enacted by President Barack Obama. With the 2020 general election on the horizon, women are going to send a clear message that equal work deserves equal pay, and presidents who oppose that while launching personal sexist attacks will not be given a second chance.

EMPOWER the Grassroots
Volunteer to Help Us Win!
We have FOUR DAYS until the Spring election and it is going to be an extremely close race. Republicans are doing everything they can to make sure that Wisconsinites can’t vote or participate in our democracy. Rather than sit at home and be demoralized, we’re surging in an unprecedented wave of virtual organizing for April 7, and we need your help! Join us in making sure that every ballot is returned at wisdems.org/forward.

We have all worked extremely hard to get to this point, and we have to keep organizing through the finish line. In the face of this crisis, democracy must persist. By volunteering this week and next, we can rise to this moment together!
